The Radio Director / Faculty Advisor

 

is responsible for all things muZik.  I am in charge of all directors and staff members at the radio station as well as the administrative, legal and technical sides of creating and maintaining a radio station.  I am here to maintain the online radio station and instruct each student how to contribute their abilities through radio media.  In doing so, as a team we will create a mainstay on the Methodist University campus for all future students to enjoy.

The Programming Department

 

is responsible for what people hear when they turn on The muZik. We are here to make sure that the sound of the station remains consistent in it's regular format, and deciphering what the widely varied demographic of listeners is eager to hear. Programming ensures everything that goes on air, from commercials, to liners, to the music is consistent with the format. Of course, what's a radio station without DJs? All of the DJs within the department also ensure that our tuned-in audience is entertained and impressed. We are the voice of The muZik.

The Music Department

 

is responsible for the all of the music you hear being broadcast on our station.  They are the link to obtaining new music and creating playlists for on-air staff.  The music department also helps DJs with their specialty shows and assures all music to be aired is ready for the airwaves and meets FCC standards.  The main goal of our department is to stay up on the most current playlists and songs from CMJ and other music industry publications.  We also spend much of their time listening to new national and local music and determining if it is the right sound for the radio station.

The News and Sports Department

 

job is to serve the Methodist community with local news as well as any important national news.  This department is responsible for airing the following: news, information, sports cast, and also public affairs.  News and Sports cast will be aired daily to provide information at the top of every hour for our listeners.  The News and Sports department plans to provide interviews with players and coaches, create play-by-plays for sports, and also have trivia shows to help incorporate more students with radio.  We will make sure to do our jobs to better serve the Fayetteville community.

The Promotions Department

 

is responsible for promoting the station and making sure it looks appealing to its intended audience. This department creates ways to attract listeners by hosting weekly, or monthly give-aways like tickets and other prizes. Also, every month it is the Promotions Department's job to honor any celebrated month. For example, Black History Month, Breast Cancer Awareness etc. Lastly, this department has the responsibility of reaching out to the surrounding community and participating in fundraisers like March-of-Dimes and other walk-a-thons.

The Production Department

 

is the creative force behind the radio station.  It is our job to write, produce and voice all pre-produced material that goes on the air.  We have to keep consistent with the format of the station and be sure we are enhancing the sound and keeping clients happy.  We are responsible for all liners you here between songs or at the top of the hour and we also spend a lot of time creating commercials for clients.  This department spends most of our time thinking up creative ideas and bringing them to life using the industry standard audio editing program, Adobe Audition (formally Cool Edit).

The Web Development Department

 

is responsible for the content of muradio.org and for the stability and quality of the internet based signal. They field all calls and concerns about the technical aspect of the radio station.
